Advertising can be one of the scariest steps to take when growing your business. It isn’t always clear as to where to begin or how to do it in the first place. Luckily, there are many resources that can take your business to the next level, one is digital marketing, all done through the use of social media.

So that begs the question, why choose social media?

It’s no secret that some companies aren’t for everyone. Using social media to advertise your business will make sure that your brand is positioned in front of the perfect audience.

Social media advertising or digital marketing integrates the use of demographics. Demographics allow you to target social media users based on specific qualities. For example, their age, sex, location, income, interests, workplace or education, just to name a few.  Now your efforts to grow your small business are pointed directly at those who need it most, your target audience.

Once you have your audience, it’s important to retain it. In other words, keep them coming back for more. Social Media is the key to having thousands of people right at your fingertips; making staying in contact easier than ever.

In a 2014 study from LinkedIn it was estimated that 81% of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) use social media. Of that 81%, 94% use social media for the purpose of marketing.

“We know that for SMBs the greatest challenge is attracting and retaining customers. Here is a really clear indicator of the value that social media is providing to companies that are rapidly growing.”

Lana Khavinson, a senior product manager at LinkedIn

Social Media comes in handy with fun numbers known as analytics. Analytics provide feedback to show whether or not the advertisement you are running is successful. Being able to see how many people viewed your advertisement or post is beneficial for growth.

Analytics display how many people engaged with the content and can give you an idea about what your audience likes or dislikes. This is beneficial because it assists in creating content that will earn your business better responses from potential customers. Potential customers means potential growth.

Visuals and how you are perceived online is everything when it comes to advertising in today’s marketplace. Social media is a perfect platform to create a cohesive image that your audience will instantly connect back to you. A cohesive image creates a professional look that will ultimately gain you the trust and respect of your target market.

It’s about making an impact without words.

Compared to traditional forms of advertising such as commercials or radio. Social media marketing is the easiest way to get your business to be seen by as many people as possible while saving you money.

For example, let’s talk about television advertising. When creating a commercial for television it can cost upwards of $2000 per run of the ad. This cost does not factor in what it costs to make the commercial. However, using social media you are able to cast a more specific net while only spending a few hundred dollars.

If you’re not sure where to start, Cobalt Media Marketing provides social media service packages. These packages are specifically geared towards the needs of small businesses.

Use social media to stand out from the crowd.
